Lance Armstrong is an American professional road racing cyclist. However, in 1996, he was diagnosed with stage three of testicular cancer. His cancer spread to his abdomen, lungs and brain. During his first visit to a urologist in Austin, Texas, he was informed that surgery and chemotherapy were required to save his life. He was constantly coughing up blood and had painful testicular tumor. After his surgery, the doctor stated that he had less than 40% of survival chance. He wanted to avoid the regular treatments because the drug bleomycin would cause the lung to intoxicate. He used cisplatinum to treat his testicular cancer and he surgically removed his brain tumors. His last treatment was on December 13, 1996 and his cancer went into complete remission. And by 1998, he already started his training. 


Before his cancer treatment, Armstrong had won 2 Tour de France stages. Armstrong dropped out of the 1996 Tour on the 7th stage after becoming ill. After his treatment, Armstrong went on to win the Tour de France each year from 1999 to 2005. He is the only person to win 7 times, breaking the former record of 5 wins. He was named Sportsman of the Year(Sports Illustrated Magazine), Best Male Athlete(ESPN's ESPY award) in 2003-06... Armstrong retired from competitive cycling in 2005, after the 2005 Tour de France.

Recent years, FDA released its first ever report about MRSA(T398). The MRSA is an antibiotic-resistant bacteria and MRSA has killed 18,600 people in just 2005 alone. This number is staggering because in 2005, AIDS/HIV killed 17,000 people. Antiboitic-resistant bacteria such as MRSA are man-made. The medical overuse of antibiotics is one danger, but the most hidden and biggest factor is the excessice use of antiboitics in food production. They are created because people feed excess amounts of anti-biotic to livestock. In 2009, farms used 29 million pounds of antiboitics for livestock only. These antibiotics keeps them alive in unsanitary conditions and this practice leads to new strains of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. It is proven that 70% of pigs and 64% of workes in animal confinements were tested and resulted positive for the antibiotic resistant strain of MRSA. These livestock is fed such antibiotic because it allows chickens, cows, pigs etc...to grow in a faster rate which allows the farmers to have a bigger profit. Experts say that the best way to avoid such bacteria is to eat more vegetables, organic and free-range meat.
