Ben Crane is currently 23rd on the money list on the PGA tour. He has won twice in the PGA tour this year and the tournaments are: Farmers Insurance Open and CIMB Asia Pacific Classic Malaysia. He started the year well, with the Farmers Insurance Open which was in January. During this tournament, he scored a 68.7 average compared to the field average of 71.75. He also had the best greens in regulations than any other player, shooting 87.5% compared to 69.71% field average. He had the best scramble out of any player, up to 89%. Where the average was 55%. Due to his win, he received $954,000 as his money prize. This also gave him 500 bonus points to his FedEx cup standing.
Another tournament he aced was the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic Malaysia. Even though he gave up his leading position at the starting of the back nine, he eagled the 15th hole. Brian Davis was leading until the last hole, however, Ben Crane came back with an amazing 2nd shot and making the eagle on the last hole. He won Brain Davis by one shot. This gave him $1 million for his prize money.

CD review

Before Their Eyes is a post-hardcore band from Ohio. The have recently come out with a new album, called Untouchable on March 9, 2010. 

Untouchable has a total of 11 songs and can be bought on Amazon for nearly $14. The overall sound of the album is...alternative rock. However, it is quite difficult to place BTE in a certain genre of music because BTE attracts fans from all kinds of genres. Whether you love hardcore breakdowns, or pop dance beats, or even sing along chorus, BTE has it all! The first song of the album is called Hey Dude! Perhaps not the best song title to start an album with, however, the strong, powerful vocals along with some falsettos makes the original. Starting out with harcore song, it moves to a more pop-like song, called Sing to Me. Most of the songs throughout the albums show some kind of emotions. For e.g. the song "Love is Misery" the chorus goes like this: I've had enough, had enough, I've told her, so it's over, love is misery. 

I would say that this album is the best album so far. BTE has released a total of 3 albums, latest one being Untouchable. BTE's current members are Nicholas Moore, Jarrett Hottman, Anthony Damschroder, Jordan Disorbo and Evan McKeever. It's former members include people like, Landon Tewers, Brenden Zapp, Nathan Warren etc... Although I do not know how this CD compares to other similar bands, Untouchable is their catchiest and best album so far.

Few weeks back, the BP oil spill was thought to be one of the worst disasters in the U.S. 

But remember Exxon Valdez? All the dead birds covered in black spill? Well, in the Niger Delta, imagine Exxon Valdez happening every year for the past 50 years. 

Experts say that in the Niger Delta, upto 30 million barrels of oil have been spilt in the Niger Delta since oil exploration began in 1958.This is the equivalent of one Exxon Valdez every year for 50 years. 

However, the government in the U.S responds to the BP oil spill and the media all around the world is all over it. Things are different in Nigeria. The Nigerian government cannot bother to give issue statements, sometimes, to decry the situations.


But it is not just the U.S media that have been covering the Gulf disaster with great dedication. Media around the world are covering the Gulf oil spill in a way that not even the NIgerian media covers oil spills in Nigeria.


The Niger Delta, which is home to more than 30 million people and is considered on eof the world's most important ecosystems, produces almost all of Nigeria's foreign exchange earnings. And in the ecosystems now lies dead fish and oily water. This has been the reality for all Nigerians for the past 50 years. Some say that the Nigerians have not had a single night of total darkness due to the gas flares. 

Cultural Differences

There are many cultures in the world today. And every country or even city, has its own special culture. Some of the basic things that make up a culture are things like greetings and food. How one greets another can really show what their culture is like. The food in a culture can sometimes even define a culture.

Firstly, lets start out with the food. Turkish food is known for it's delicious fried rice, the famous döner, and iskender. When I interviewed 4 different people, I received a variety of responses. One of the responses was that Turkish food was more greasy, however, that it was still more healthy. David Mathew Lutz said, "Americans eat a lot of red meat which can be bad fo yo body". Mr.Lutz implied the fact that there was much more vegetables in Turkish food than American. A similar response came from Miss.Caroline Elliott. She also believed that Turkish food had more vegetables so it was healthier, but Turkish food used more butter for rice and other food. Dr.Austin Page, another American(Texan), said, "i would say the food is much healthier. the staples of food here in turkey is bread, soup, tea and vegetables, whereas the staples in the USA is what...cheesburgers, hotdogs and beer?" However, these were all Americans. So, as I interviewed Abbs Renberg, I received a different answer. Miss.Renberg said that in Malaysia, there is a greater variety of food, and she also said that Malaysian food was more "oily" than Turkish food. Most of the food in Malaysia are fried, like fried noodles, fried rice, fried pig intestine etc...

Another way to see cultural differences is the way one greets another. In Turkey, both men and women, greets another with kisses on both cheeks. Of course many cultures have different ways of greeting another. Dr.Page said, "...in USA, kissing someone as they open the door would horrify the host. Americans settle on a strong handshake and pat on the back". Mr.Lutz said, "In Turkey, a natural greeting between guys would be a hug and a quick kiss on each side of the face, while in America all you'd get is a fist bump." So, this raises this question, what about the ladies? Miss.Elliott said, "I kiss my Turkish friends here on the cheeks to greet them, It'd be a little socially unacceptable to do that in the states." She said that in the States, she would just 'hug' her friends. But sometimes, she would hug her Turkish friends too. Miss.Renberg said that in Malaysia, they would greet another with a hug, or sometimes just a 'hello'. However to elders, they would bow their heads and shake their hands.

Overall, as we have compared cultures, we have clearly seen some differences in food, and the way people greet one another. Turkish food is considered for the most part healthier, with  more vegetables. However, it is definitely considered to be quite oily. For greetings, Turks kiss each other on the cheeks, and most Western cultures gets handshakes, fist bumps, pat on the back and sometimes a hug(with closer friends).

Sleeping Booty

There was once a kingdorm full of booties. However, there was this one booty that was particularly spherical. It was the definition of true beauty. Her name was Bouncy. When Bouncy was young and soft, she was cursed by the evil witch Harry. It predicted that when the young and beautiful booty turned 18, she would prick herself on a sowing needle and fall into a deep sleep.

When that day came, just as the Harry predicted, Bouncy sat on a needle and slept long and hard and could not be awoken. She was locked up in a tall tower, awaiting her savior.

Sure enough, 5 years later, that savior arrived. He was a young prince by the name of Bootylicious. He fought his was up to to the top of the tower and found Bouncy lying beautifully on her pink bed. He approached her slowly and when he reached her, he gave her a smooch on the cheeks. And when he did, she woke up from the curse. They immediately fell in love. He picked her up and carried her out of the tower to rule the world.

BUT, the moment they stepped out of the tower, Harry the witch appeared in the shape of a fire-breathing Trogdor and burninatined the countryside. Bootylicious ran in fear of the dragon, but the fairies gave him a shield to deflect the flames and a sword to slay the Trogdor. Bootylicious went back with courage and struck down Trogdor with a gassy blow. And the land of booties lived happily ever after.

Australian boy feeds animals to crocodile-biased

In the city of Sydney, Australia, a boy was caught killing a wide range of reptiles and feeding it to the hungry mouth of a 3 meter, 440 pound crocodile.
During the 30 minutes, the boy was able to jump over the security fence at the Alice Springs Reptile Center and kill rare and mature reptiles, including a four western blue tongue lizards, two bearded dragons, two thorny devil lizards and even a 2 meter adult female goanna.
The police have identified the boy through a surveillance camera and have cautioned him. The police cannot press charges against this young boy because the Northern Territory forbids any charges to be set on anyone younger than 10 years old. However, they are now looking suing the boy's parents.

The bias in articles

In the first article, written by Kristen Gelineau, is quite biased. The article is very radical with the word choices and phrases. She writes phrases like "bashed several lizards to death" or "we're horrified that anyone can do this and saddened by the age of the child". It clearly points out that such event cannot be accepted and some justice should be done. And since the Northern Territory does not allow such charges to be set to children under the age of 10, the article mentions a person names Neindorf who says, "if we can't put the blame on the child, then someone has to accept the responsibility."

This 2nd article, by Alex Richardson, is no doubt biased too. But perhaps a little less than the 1st one. Quotes and phrases like "he'd get a big boot up the arse" or "we'll be looking at suing the parents" shows that author is not happy with the incident. It implies that such incident should deserve consequences and justice must be brought to the table.

The last article has by far the least, or almost no bias towards the incident. It does not include harsh words that are shown in the 2 articles above. It states the facts and does not give any big opinions about the story.

Australian boy feeds animals to crocodile-unbiased

In Sydney, Australia, a 7 year old boy broke into a zoo and fed a crocodile a turtle, bearded dragons, devil lizards and etc... The police were able to identity the person through a surveillance camera and it showed the boy's action in the zoo. 

According to law in the Northern Territory, children under the age of 10 may not be charged against criminal activity. The boy's actions were seen through the surveillance camera as he fed the 3 meter, 200 kilogram salt water crocodile a range of reptiles. The staff announced that the animals that were lost during this event may be replaced-even though it may not be easy. 

The  police were able to identify the boy from the footage taken from the surveillance cameras and have spoken to the boy and his mother about the incident.

The Lonely IS land

Hello, my name is Samuel Bubbles Lee. I am 15 years old and I go to  International Gateway Academy in Istanbul, Turkey. I have lived my life in the middle east mostly such as Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Turkey. I was born in North Korea but I'm South Korean.
